Wimbledon Park Golf Club

TPL have been appointed by Wimbledon Park Golf Club to carry out an audit of the existing course and make the necessary proposals for improving the course with a primary focus on strengthening the bunkering in terms of their strategic placement, aesthetics and consistency.

WPGC is a gem of a course only a few miles from the thriving city of London. Laid out well over 100 years ago by a local club professional from Mitcham, the club has a long and successful history.

History in Brief

The majority of the course is located within established and mature woodland complimented by rolling earth features. It encircles the picturesque Wimbledon Park Lake and has some old and rather quirky design features that have survived over time.

Capability Brown's involvement with the site prior to it becoming a golf course are clearly evident in some of her planting that still remains today.

Few changes have been made to the course since the 1940's, some bunkers here and there, but essentially the course has remained unchanged since then.

Always in fantastic playing condition, WPGC is a really charming and quirky golf course with some truly magnificent golf holes situated directly adjacent to the world famous All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Design work is currently being carried out with construction projected for Winter 2011.
